Neva’s business
The Envoys interrupt some negotiation between Emissary Neva and a fat Romano man - Papa Chicco. The Emissary is in distress upon seeing the group and orders a horse. The Envoys advance and walk through the gate. A Romano gatekeeper tries to convince them to stay outside, to no avail.
Neva mounts her horse, while the group walks to the gate to block her. A shot is heard, Papa Chicco and another Romano man fall. Papa Chicco is not harmed, but the man is shot. A second shot hits the ground where Papa Chicco’s head was a second earlier.
Maren takes a stance and shoots down the shooter, while Kuno is on the lookout - he sees the big hooded Anabaptist rider from the day before, at the other side of the camp. Thread hears a drone overhead. Anastasia is now alone, trying to block the gate.
Neva galloped forward, and her horse crashed into the side of Anastasia’s piercer. Had the Cossack not been so sturdy, the impact would have thrown her violently to the ground. At that minute, Nero Vex who was following the party throws the Jehammedan’s Disk at Neva’s face. The Emissary is hit hard and almost falls from her horse, which continues ahead, dragging her.
Escape
The Anabaptist rider gallops to meet Neva in the woods. But before they meet, a smoke bomb explodes between them, covering the area with a thick mist. Maren, followed by Anastasia and Nero, runs towards the smoke.
Within the smoke, galloping stops. Then, flashes and the sounds of multiple shots. Nero finds one horse, without a rider. Galloping sounds start again, and one rider leaves the smoke, followed by the drone.
Back at the camp, Kuno and Papa Chicco walk towards the tree the shooter is hanging from. He is alive, but bleeding. He claims Papa Chicco killed his father, and the Romano does not plead innocence. A Romano guard comes and kills the shooter, known as Black Tom.
Maren clears herself from the smoke, still in time to shoot the fleeing rider. The horse is killed, and a woman’s grunt is heard when Neva hits the ground. Anastasia and Nero mount the second horse, riding it towards where Neva has fallen.
Another flash of light, and multiple shard shots hit the trees close to Anastasia and Nero. Unable to control their horse, both fall, dislocating their shoulders. Maren tries to identify this other shooter. She sees movement but cannot discern who it is.
Confessions
Lucio is found unconscious close to where the smoke bomb exploded. His face is badly burnt. Both he and Neva are taken back into the camp. While Thread pursues the second shooter for no avail, people are interrogated by the Envoys at the camp.
The Romanos were digging the area for artefacts. Bullets with the name of Papa Chicco were found with the body of Black Tom. It seems that a coincidence brought Black Tom to this camp this night. Lucio was following Neva, unbeknownst to her.
Neva was badly injured this night. Anastasia helps her like a sister, and eventually breaks her cold. Neva cries as she confesses she has done it all to help her sick son Vikal. She came to hire the Romanos to kill Lucio. The Furor repeatedly sought to take Neva to bed, though she recoiled from his close company.
Bye Papa Chicco
Everyone finds a place to sleep at the camp. After such a night, people sleep deeply. But not Nero.
The Apocalyptic takes the bullets with Papa Chicco’s name on them. He stealthily enters the Romano’s tent. He cuts the sleeping man’s throat and then makes a triangular cut, where he lodges the bullets.
