Folklore

It is midwinter in northern Gravenmark. The events of the previous year have put the region’s factions on a path of conflict.

In mid Feb-Sit, the Crown of Ambaret decides to get involved in the Middle-Waters Minster’s plight. The monks are dying of famine. The Crown sends north the Kingsguard that is stationed in Deverain, who arrived a few months ago to contain the Duke’s revolt and independence. Around the same time, peasants from Sigisfarne start to get closer to the fae from the Queensweald.

Meanwhile, members of the Queensweald offer enchanted food, roots and berries to the northwestern refugees entering Sigisfarne. The move is meant to convince everyone of the Fae’s generosity.

In mid Mar-Prune, the Crown’s Kingsguard, with assistance from the Mountain Court, try to secure the farmland around Sigisfarne. To their surprise, they are unable to root out the Piot Chant underneath, due to improper military technique and bad communication between the different troops.

The Piot Chant inflicted heavy losses upon the Crown’s soldiers. Later in the month, upon petitioning their support, the Piot Chant gained the sympathy of the giant Basajaun and the fae. The Crown, seeing the difficulty of the pitched battle and the relatively satiated appearance of the population of Sigisfarne after being fed by the Fae, decide to cut its losses and withdraw from the region.

At the end of the month, Sigisfarne organises a meeting between the various factions in an agreed-upon location to stop the violence. The Monks and Sigisfarne pledge mutual cooperation in this time of need. The Fae agree to assist the humans with food in exchange for allowing changelings to openly live in Sigisfarne. The giant Basajaun gives the humans further knowledge of farming in exchange for taking new brides from the region. The Piot Chants are willing to stop the violence and work out the details of the farmland at a later date.

On the last day of the month, to be remembered in the region as the Bride’s Peace, the giant Basajaun takes the eldest and youngest women of each family who are attuned to the land.
